President, Wholesale and MGA
Alex Furlong joined U.S. Risk as President of the Wholesale and MGA division in 2023. Prior to joining U.S. Risk, Alex held various production and leadership roles with several of the largest wholesale brokerage firms in the nation, including All Risks LTD and Amwins. Most recently, he led wholesale brokerage operations for One80 Intermediaries. Prior to joining the insurance industry, Alex spent over eight years in the U.S. Army as an Infantry Officer and Special Forces commander. Alex holds an MBA from Emory University.

Wholesale & MGA Operations Leader
Chris Head is the Wholesale and MGA Operations Leader of U.S. Risk. Chris has over 25 years of expertise and service in the insurance industry. Prior to joining U.S. Risk in 2023, Chris worked with several leading retail and wholesale brokers, including USI Insurance Services, LLC; McGriff, Seibels & Williams, Inc.; and RT Specialty. In these roles, Chris was responsible for placement of all lines of business for middle market and risk management clients, as well as being a property specialist and managing a team of brokers during his time on the wholesale side. Chris graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a degree in finance.

National Underwriting and Business Development Manager
Andrea Jenkins joined U.S. Risk in 2020. After attending the University of Cincinnati, Andrea began her insurance career in 2002 with Liberty Mutual, holding several carrier direct/retail production positions, before moving to Amwins in 2013 to lead a wholesale brokerage team. She currently manages a team of MGA underwriters and brokerage specialists, dedicated to our internal distribution strategies.

Wholesale Leadership

Property Practice Leader
Peter O’Connor joined U.S. Risk in 2020. Industry experience includes nine years on the carrier side with Crum & Forster as an executive package underwriter, working in production and managing favorable combine ratios for various books, namely middle market, real estate, manufacturing, energy distribution, metal recycling, and explosive contractors. He also gained experience at RT Specialty as a broker/underwriter. As a property broker at U.S. Risk, Peter concentrates on large real estate portfolios and difficult-to-place property risks including builder’s risk and inland marine. Peter holds CPCU, ARe, and ARM designations.

Casualty Practice Leader
Dutch Phillips has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, working as both a broker and underwriter. Having spent over ten years on the underwriting side with AIG and Ironshore, Dutch changed paths to the wholesale brokerage side, working for RT Specialty and Amwins. Dutch joined U.S. Risk in 2015, where he specializes in casualty with an emphasis on energy, environmental, construction, and products related risks. Prior to his career in insurance, he spent nine years in the U.S. Army as Non-Commissioned Officer.

Marine Practice Leader
Tim Lucas began his career in ocean marine over 40 years ago, giving him a unique perspective on the marine wholesale insurance business. Tim was a merchant mariner prior to getting into boat sales and marina operations, both as a manager and as an owner. He then moved into ocean marine insurance, managing Guba Marine Insurance, a national boat insurance MGA. Since that time, Tim has been a commercial marine producer at the Campbell Group, a program manager for Safehold Special Risk and a product line leader for Markel Specialty. Tim joined U.S. Risk in June 2023.

Executive and Professional Lines Practice Leader
Dave Perkins has over 30 years of insurance experience. His expertise is in the areas of cyber/privacy coverage, management liability, employment practices liability, professional liability, medical malpractice and other specialty insurance products. He has specific industry expertise with public and private companies, financial institutions, technology, media, healthcare and education. Dave is a regular speaker at national insurance conferences in the areas of cyber/privacy coverage, directors and officers liability, and employment practices liability.

Transportation Practice Leader
Nick Myers has over thirty years of experience in the insurance industry, working as a broker and agency owner. He specializes in transportation, with an emphasis on long-haul trucking liability, physical damage, and motor truck cargo. Nick graduated from Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi, where he is a lifelong resident. He has served as Chairman of the Board for the Mississippi Methodist Children’s Home, and served in many other charitable and civic organizations.
